Emma Stanners (formerly Ayres) was living here when she died in 1939. She was killed in a car crash in Amersham. The car was part of an annual outing for the elderly people of High Wycombe. The coach was full so she went in a car that was being used as overflow. The car crashed and she was sent through the windscreen, instantly killing her. She had seen some tragedy in her life, having lost two sons in WW1. A third son and her husband had also pre deceased her.
