    John Spanton of this parish, butcher, and Elizabeth Neoshaw [Neesham] also of this parish, spinster, were married by license. 18 September 1770. St Laurence's Church, Kirby Misperton, Yorkshire. The marriage bond and allegation gave the following details: John Spanton was from Barugh Ambo in the parish of Kirby Misperton. The other bondsman was Henry Mawson, an innholder of the City of York. The spelling of the names on the marriage license were John Spanton and Elizabeth Neesham - but the banns spelt her surname differently.
