"Move to new home 138 Snape Hill Darfield, probably around 1914. First World War 1914-1918. Riding in horse and trap to see my first aeroplane which had landed in a field close by. Zeppe'len raid. Out wrapped in blanket, dark, feeling a little lost and lonely. People wending their way into the fields to escape any bombs." - Jane Linley's "Record of Remembrance, 1973"
