On 23 March 1848, Charles Richard William Lane married Maria Gibbs (his second wife) in Camberwell, Surrey. Richard Radcliffe Edward Cary married Caroline Ursula Lane (Charles' daughter from his first marriage) at St Giles and St Nicholas Parish Church, Sidmouth, Devon on 27 April 1853. Maria Gibbs and Richard Radcliffe Cary are first cousins, and they are both grandchildren of Edward Cary and Mary Loftus (Maria's mother is Louisa Cary, Richard's father is Robert Moore Cary).
